A debut post for this web site

A

This is a first effort at a first post on this page, the page devoted to my life as an author of fiction, an author of novels. At the moment it’s lonely here. Authorship—at least of the first novel—is in the past, but publication is still in the future.
It’s a novel I never expected when I sat down to write. It’s set a bit over 8000 years ago, which is odd, for me. I’m not an archeologist, or an anthropologist. I have little training to write a book set so long ago. But that was the book that came out when I started writing.
This first novel is already peeking from it’s hiding place (see Amazon preorder page here), but will not emerge completely until October 20th of this year, just a bit over a month from now, so the readership here for this first post is probably limited to my beta readers, my editors, my Book Whisperer, and possibly a few friends. Even they won’t show up until I let them know I have posted something. If you’re reading this and don’t fall into one of those categories, then I’m astonished, and delighted!
Here are my hopes, a month in advance of publication: when you all have a chance to read the book, I hope that archeologists will log in here and tell me how far wrong I went in describing the time and its people, and why they think so, or what I got right, and why they think that. And I hope that people who have no interest in archeology will log in to tell me why the story, or the characters, went wrong or right. It’s a story centered on a blind Neolithic girl. I have never been any of those things, so I probably got some of it wrong. Good. Tell me so. Because I hope to write other books, at least one and possibly a series, based on this initial plot. Let me know how I can improve it.
I’ll try to post at least once a week. And I’ll try to keep up with any conversation here, and participate as well as I can.

  • When I initially commented I seem to have clicked on the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now every time a comment is added I receive 4 emails with the exact same comment. Is there a means you are able to remove me from that service? Cheers!
